Unaccompanied minors in Serbia

Further along the Balkans route, I found 1,500 people stuck, living in old industrial warehouses in the Serbian capital Belgrade. More than half of these people were unaccompanied minors who were not receiving any sort of assistance. I found children left in the hands of traffickers trying to reach a Europe that they had already left (Greece and Bulgaria) to try to enter the heart of Europe in search of better assistance.
While these young people are trapped, facing winter temperatures that reach below zero, Serbia and Europe have continued to look on in silence so as not to compromise the apparent stabilisation of the migration flows.
